The 1st WALTHAM FOREST CELLO FEST (6th – 26th October 2019) – “London Borough of Culture meets Classical Music” programme is now online!

This year the festival commemorates the 334th anniversary of the birth of Johann Sebastian Bach, the 327th anniversary of the birth if Italian baroque composer Giuseppe Tartini, the 200th anniversary of the birth of German – French composer and cellist Jacques Offenbach, the 100th anniversary of the birth of Czech Jewish composer Gideon Klein – Gideon Klein Centenary, the 100th anniversary of the birth of American Jazz Cellist Fred Katz – Fred Katz Centenary, the 60th anniversary of the death of Swiss-born American composer Ernest Bloch and London’s first ever Borough of Culture in 2019!

The 1st annual Waltham Forest Cello Fest 2019 will feature Czech cellist František Brikcius, composer and organist Irena Kosíková, Czech cellist Anna Brikciusová and siblings cello chamber ensemble Duo Brikcius from Prague.

Concerts are held on 6th – 26th October 2019 in The London Borough of Waltham Forest (the Engine House – Walthamstow Wetlands, historic Victoria Line Carriage – Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum, One Hoe Street, Church of St John the Baptist in Leytonstone, Church of St Michael and All Angels in Walthamstow and the Parish Church of Ss Peter and Paul in Chingford) in cooperation with the Czech Centre London.

Booking is essential via Eventbrite. Book early as seats at some venues are limited!

S. BACH: SIX SUITES FOR UNACCOMPANIED CELLO (Sunday 20th October) and final virtuoso concert THE ART OF BOWING / L’ARTE DELL’ARCO (Saturday 26th October).
