Marking the 100th anniversary of his birth, this tribute to William Pleeth, one of the celebrated teachers of the latter half of the 20th century, brings together past pupils, colleagues and family in a joyful remembrance of his life and work.

William Pleeth was a musician of the highest calibre–perceptive, supportive and sensitive to the needs of young players. Besides Jacqueline du Pré, his roster of pupils includes a long list of cellists performing before the public today. He is remembered with great affection as a consummate chamber musician, teacher and inspiring musical figure whose legacy is very much alive since his passing in 1999.

Join us for an afternoon of William Pleeth on recordings and film , accompanied by a forum of guest cellists and concluding with an evening concert celebrating his musical achievements.

We thank the Royal College of Music and J&A Beare Ltd for their generous support of this event.
