Chamber Cellos Course in Sth France

I’m delighted that 1st-8th June 2019, Chamber Cellos will be returning to Chateau de Bussas in the South of France.

Situated in the foothills of the Massif Central, the Chateau de Bussas is the most wonderful place for a week of cello ensembles. The grounds of the Chateau are beautiful and the view of the surrounding hills is stunning. At the start of June the flowers will be out and the scent of roses will be in the air. Average temperature is a high of 24, low of 13.
Chamber Cellos will mount a total hilltop take over, occupying all six houses/apartments and providing each player with own room accommodation.

This will be a week where mornings immersed in our cellos will be rewarded with afternoons by the pool, staring out at the hills and listening to the silence, or a session with our resident body practitioner, or walking to the local village of L’Estrechure (3kms) for a coffee, or venturing further afield for a spot of kayaking down a river. Late afternoon into early evening is time for more glorious cello ensembles, before a glass of wine and relax, maybe accompanied by an impromptu patio performance from whoever feels the urge. Meanwhile our chef will be busy cooking a delicious dinner, having earlier picked the vegetables from the Chateau’s own kitchen garden, which is tenderly cared for by the caretaker and his wife.

Our musical programme will be made up of a range of genres, with wonderful arrangements of the familiar, unfamiliar, and the unexpected. As well as the full ensemble we will divide into smaller groups and explore the art of playing chamber music. To round off the week and celebrate what has been achieved, locals will be invited to come join us for an end of course concert followed by drinks and nibbles.

All the parts are individually allocated according to playing level, with the music sent out in advance. The course is open to players of Grade 6 level to advanced.

Our bodywork practitioner and our chef are the key to making these courses special, providing us with home cooked meals, and caring for any sore muscles that might arise (or that travelled to Bussas with you). As well as individual bodywork on offer, morning stretches overlooking the hills will be led every morning by our practitioner, giving a lovely focus to the day and ensuring an ache free week.

The cost of the week is £770 (travel not included but see details on http://www.bussas.com). Guests of participants are very welcome to come along (please ask about cost).
A cello transport service will be on offer for those travelling by train or plane. The cost of this will be confirmed.
