The evening concert at Wigmore Hall will feature works by some of these composers as well as by Beethoven, including the beloved Sonata in A major, op 69. We honour our esteemed colleague and cellist extraordinaire Anner Bylsma with a Lifetime Achievement Award in a special presentation at Wigmore Hall. Adventures with My Cello!
A day of cello discoveries in the Rainforest with Pat Legg Sunday 8th November 2009 10.00 am - 3.00 pm Hampstead Town Hall, London NW3 To welcome the Cello Club of Great Britain as the new Junior Division of the London Cello Society, we celebrate with a special event for beginners to Grade 4 level, featuring the most wonderful of cello teachers, Pat Legg. Sharing ideas, you’ll be detectives discovering different ways of using the bow and different ways of moving around the cello fingerboard. Pat has chosen music based on themes from the Amazon Rainforest.

Honouring Jacqueline du Pré The Films of Christopher Nupen Sunday 21st March 2010 2.00 pm-5.00 pm Queen Elizabeth Hall, South Bank Centre Renowned filmmaker and broadcaster Christopher Nupen shares his films and memories of Jacqueline du Pré from a close friendship that lasted for 26 years. Some of his material is world famous, some of it has been seen by very few, but all of it will be presented in new contexts. This fundraising event on behalf of the London Cello Society, presents an intimate tribute to an artist who remains gloriously vibrant in the public mind.

CelloDay 2010 Sunday 18th April 2010 10.30 am - 5.30 pm Royal Academy of Music CelloDay has become a springtime cello tradition where you can share and learn new cello skills during challenging technique sessions, chamber music, a cello orchestra and masterclasses for all ages. This event is open to all amateurs, teachers and Grades 5-8 students. We encourage our members to bring family, friends and pupils for this final presentation of the season.
